How an oil painting is created

Suze Ford in the studio

I have been wanting to do some sort of video for a long time that shows a little more about who I am and my painting process. Since I had absolutely NO idea how to make a video, I put it off for quite a while. But, I decided I wasn't going to let this be an excuse any longer. It is a vulnerable feeling showing this to you all. But, it is exciting to know that I taught myself how to do this, and completed it all on my own! No, it is not fancy. No, it is not perfect. BUT, I DID IT!

When I am in the studio I am in one of my happiest places on earth. I absolutely love the process of oil painting. I have been in love with it for almost 20 years! (Wow! That makes me feel old) So, this is the best way I thought to share my joy with you! Maybe this will inspire one of you to pick up a brush.

I thought showing how many layers go into a painting would be fun for others to see. Every piece starts out with colors and no particular plan. I embrace the way the paint speaks to me, and I just let my intuition guide me. There is no formula, or magic. It is just years of learning through playful experimentation. I love what I am able to do for a living. It really has been a gift of a dream I never REALLY knew was possible.

I hope you all enjoy this! If you do, give me a "thumbs up", share with your friends, or give me some feedback of what you would like to see in my next video! (CLICK HERE to watch)

Thank you for coming along on the creative ride with me. I appreciate all of the love and support from each and everyone of you!
