Pianos on Parade in Kansas City

This year was the first year for the Pianos on Parade event in Kansas City. When I was asked to participate I was a little bit hesitant because I knew the amount of work involved in painting furniture, let along a gigantic piano. Some of my DIY and Pinterest projects were pretty challenging, despite reading up on “the best way to paint furniture” articles.

I knew this project would entail a lot of labor. But, I didn’t realize what a labor of love it would turn out to be. I was sure to post some images on my Instagram account. The amount of love I received was just awesome!

My pianos new home for the summer with be in Prairie Village, shopping area. So far I have received lots of pictures and videos of friends and kiddos strumming away on it. (Do you strum a piano? hmmm) Anyway, it has brought me so much joy to see so many people enjoying this interactive art project. Plus, money will be donated to a lovely cause, which is helping more kids be able to learn about music! This piece of the puzzle was priceless!

It is always fun as an artist to get out of your usual box and do something a little out of the ordinary. It is especially awesome if it involves supporting the arts and kids! I encourage any of you artists to challenge yourself to something like this. I think you will be glad that you did!

To learn more about this event be sure to visit the Pianos on Parade website.
